ELMZOLID 600 TABLET (Wych Elm Laboratories Limited) with a composition of Linezolid 600 mg Tablet.

Elmzolid 600 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used in the treatment of severe bacterial infections. It is used to treat infections of the lungs (pneumonia), skin, and soft tissues.

Elmzolid 600 Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. You should take it regularly as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. Do not stop taking it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. If you stop taking this medicine too early then infection may return or worsen.

The most common side effects of Elmzolid 600 Tablet include vomiting, headache, nausea, decreased blood cell counts, and diarrhoea. These are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days.

Before using it, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics or have any kidney or liver problems. 3. The detailed uses of Elmzolid 600 Tablet are as follows:

• Pneumonia (Lung Infection):Elmzolid 600 Tablet is effective in treating both community-acquired and hospital-acquired pneumonia caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Skin and Skin Structure Infections:Elmzolid 600 Tablet is used to treat mild to severe bacterial infections of the skin and its underlying tissues. It is also indicated for the treatment of diabetic foot infections, without associated bone infections (osteomyelitis).
• Antibiotic-Resistant Infections:Elmzolid 600 Tablet is indicated for infections caused by the bacteria Enterococcus faecium that are resistant to vancomycin, including intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, and concurrent bacteraemia (presence of bacteria in the bloodstream).

Elmzolid 600 Tablet works by killing bacteria which can cause serious infections. It is used to treat many different types of bacterial infections such as infections of lungs (pneumonia), skin, and soft tissues. This medicine usually makes you feel better very quickly but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Avoid Elmzolid 600 Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

Driving

Elmzolid 600 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Elmzolid 600 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Elmzolid 600 Tablet is recommended. However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION

Elmzolid 600 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Elmzolid 600 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Limited information is available on the use of Elmzolid 600 Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.

If you miss a dose of Elmzolid 600 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

• Elmzolid 600 Tablet treats serious infections caused by certain types of bacteria.
• Take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.
• Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
• Diarrhoea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
• Avoid taking excessive cheese, processed meats, alcohol, or soy sauce while taking this medication as these may cause an excessive rise in your blood pressure.
• Inform your doctor if you develop fever, shortness of breath, or any changes in your vision.
• Do not take it for more than 14 days without consulting your doctor.

Q:What foods should I avoid while taking Elmzolid 600 Tablet?

A:You should avoid taking large quantities of food that contain high tyramine in it. Foods that are fermented, cured, aged or spoiled contain high amount of tyramine e.g. cheese, red wine, pickle, over ripe fruits etc. Consuming tyramine while taking Elmzolid 600 Tablet can result in elevation of blood pressure, which may result in an emergency situation.
